Search Underway for Missing Man in Shenandoah National Park


Shenandoah National Park Rangers are searching for Steven Craig Davis, a 42
year old man from Earlysville, Virginia.


Davis left his home on Thursday, January 28, 2010, to hike Old Rag Mountain
in Shenandoah National Park.  When he did not return home that evening, his
family reported him missing to the park.  Search operations began
immediately and are continuing today.


Steven Davis is described as a male with brown hair and blue eyes, 5’
7”tall, weighing approximately 180 pounds. His family last saw him wearing
a grey sweatshirt and jeans.  It is believed that he is wearing leather
boots and a red toboggan cap and may be carrying a bright yellow or orange
fanny pack with a green poncho, a long, red aluminum water bottle and a
walking stick.


Over 15 National Park Service employees and trained volunteers are
currently involved in the search.  A United State Park Police helicopter
will be used in today’s search.
